Kate Nagle, born in NYC earned a BA in Fine Arts from State University of New York, has lived in Gaithersburg, MD for 11 years. Additionally, she has studied with several international masters in advanced painting techniques and teaches privately. Kate is accomplished in figure painting, landscapes, realistic marbling and trompe l’oeil (pronounced: tromp loy) techniques.

Seven years ago Kate turned her classic fine arts studies into a full time business, Interior Illusions, named to emphasize her talent for Trompe L’oeil style painting.


In 2004, Kate was selected to paint a PandaMania resin figure by the DC Commission of Arts and Humanities. The painted panda welcomed visitors to the White House until the grand auction, which raised money for DCCAH Arts programs.

In June 2005, a privately commissioned 20’ Chesapeake Bay shoreline mural painted by Kate was included in the 2005 Kentland’s Home and Garden Tour.


This summer, Kate was delighted to develop the wall and mural treatments for the Tuscan Wine Bar, part of the 2005 National Symphony Orchestra Show House. Kate was thrilled to be recognized as the NSO 2005 recipient of the ELIZABETH WARNOCK PRIZE for Excellence in the Decorative Arts in recognition of her artistic work.
